Since everyone but reason cares so much, my last email to Craig:

I?m quite confused. I had the impression on Saturday that your marriage was in its death throes and (perhaps wrongly) assumed you were trying to reconnect with the past to have some sort of support system/safety net to go it alone again. Now, you?re sneaking around to see people that you knew before you met Laura, and you?ll SOMEDAY let her know.

Let me go on record to say that I don?t dislike Laura; I don?t know her. That she dislikes me and Bob and Kip and Dana and Steve and Greg and Lake and Sluggo and EVERYBODY else you knew before you met her is HER problem, not mine. That said, I?ll do my very best to be polite if/when I am ever around her. Come on the 16th. Throw some bucks down for Rolling Thunder (501)(c)(4) corporation and thereby FULLY tax deductible ? say hey, and go on from there.*

You don?t need me to tell you that what you did in 2002 hurt a lot of people. You could have simply wandered away (?Oh, Saturday? Sorry got other plans.? ?An email? I never got it and I?m just really too busy right now with the house/the marriage/the cat/the dog/the plants to respond?) You aren?t stupid, so I won?t belabor the point. But it?s there. Have you called Randy?

I know I opened the door when I left the message about Maureen. Steve and I were probably closest to her, and I neither one of us believe the story of her death. I left the message because even though you made decisions, I?ve always known you to be caring person.

*I?ve been told too many times that I?m way, way too sensitive, but since I spent the better part of 20 years with a man who could not be comfortable unless he was controlling my every move, I try to understand where you are. My hinky meter tells me this is a domestic vortex and I should step back, but I guess I?m a fool.
